What I've Been Up To

My goal with this website was to document and share everything that I learn related to programming and technology. If you look around, it’s obvious that I haven’t done much of that since I started this site in May of 2017. I haven’t posted or done a thing since January of last year. So in an effort to get things back swinging here, I decided to make a quick post about what I’ve been up to in my technical life for the last year and 4 months.

Basically I’ve been studying, working, and slacking (enjoying some non-technical activities). In March of last year I was able to land a full time job as a .NET developer. I’ve been working at it for over a year now and I’ve learned more in the last year then I have during my whole time in IT.

I’ve increased my knowledge of C#, VB.NET, Visual Studio, ASP.NET, SQL, Oracle SQL Developer, and SQL Management Studio. I’ve also learned and been exposed to some new languages, tools, and frameworks including JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, .NET Web Services, IIS, TFS, Service Manager, and Toad for Oracle.

I wouldn’t call myself completely competent using all of these tools. They’re just what I’ve had to learn and use while I’ve been working full time as a developer for the last year. I hope I get to keep working with all of this stuff so I can learn more and continue becoming more experienced.

Between that, school, and trying to maintain a gym routine, I’ve really been too tired and lazy to do anything else technical on the side. That’s where the slacking part comes in.

With that said I’ve really learned a lot and my technical skills have improved significantly in the last year. I still have a long way to go until I can call myself a seasoned professional. Hopefully I can get myself back to learning things on the side and sharing that knowledge here.

For my future posts I plan to continue writing general, C# .NET programming stuff, but I’m also going to mix in some random tutorials and resolutions to issues that I encounter as well. I hope I can stay on track and keep posting.
